CROSSNET Featured on Kivo Daily

Jourdain Bell, journalist for Kivo Daily, recently sat down with the Chris Meade to discuss the creation of CROSSNET and how the sport has grown since launch in 2017. Below you'll find a few of our favorite segments from the sit down.

CROSSNET was created by three friends that grew up on the farmlands of Connecticut. They wanted to bring something new to the beach and gym classes across the world. With Mike being an engineer, Greg an e-commerce guru, and Chris a sales expert, the three wanted to collaborate on an idea that fused their specialties with their love for sports. I asked Chris the following questions and here’s what he had to say.

Tell us about CROSSNET how did you come up with this idea?

Chris Meade: One night, we were brainstorming product ideas when the need for a new sports game was brought up. Growing up, we played four square in middle school and knew we could evolve that game to include a volleyball aspect. The next day we rigged up a prototype, invited friends over, and couldn’t stop playing. A year later we are across beaches and gymnasiums across the world!

What advice do you have for people looking to start a business?

Chris Meade: Invest your money and time into something and don’t give up. Success will not happen overnight. It might not happen for several years. But if you are passionate about an idea, keep working at it, learn from your struggles and setbacks, and find ways to grow your business every day. Eventually, the success will snowball, and you’ll find yourself continuing to grow every day.

What have been the most successful marketing tactics for CROSSNET?

Chris Meade: Invest in social media and building your brand. Some of our videos have gone viral on Facebook and Twitter. We woke up the other day with a video that received 1.5 million views.

What were your biggest failure and biggest success? What did you learn from them?

Chris Meade: Being back-ordered during holidays is by far our biggest failure. Our biggest success to date is being accepted into Walmart, Target, Academy, FlagHouse, Gopher Sports and many others. We learned to be prepared for a big wave of orders and that anything is possible as far as where CROSSNET can find itself.
